A Marathon for the Street Kids

Well done, Caitlin!
This is Caitlin Johnson having completed the Kielder Marathon in the very creditable time of 4 hours 25 minutes. It was glorious weather, and she says "It was a really fantastic day - I loved every second!"
She had already raised the wonderful sum of £365 for the Kasese Street Kids, and her boyfriend's parents have given her a further £10 to add to that.
Caitlin writes: "So pleased that the money I raised for Kasese Street Kids has gone directly towards the progress of the hostel. My previous concerns with charity fundraising was the amount of 'sponsorship money' used for admin/advertising etc.. this is also why I'm so enthusiastic about grassroots charity projects such as Kasese."

That £50 note
I mentioned in the last post that we had received an anonymous gift of a £50 in the post. Shortly after that we had a phone call from the donor, wanting to check that it had actually arrived. So we were able to thank her for the kind and generous thought of letting the Kasese Street Kids benefit from their local bazaar.

What is happening now?
We are still awaiting an email from Kasese about the priority needs now, and what we can help with. We have been told about the need for a 7 foot high fence (to keep animals out from the crops they hope to plant, as well as hopefully keeping children in!), and other things like a maize and cassava mill, cooking equipment, lockers for the kids' few belongings, etc. Once we have had confirmation of costs of these we hope to send some more money out.
